The African Union (AU) has announced a new career opportunity for the position of Administration and Finance Assistant (STRC) in Abuja, Nigeria. The Administration and Finance Assistant will provide financial, accounting, administrative, and treasury support within the AU’s operations. The position is based at the Scientific, Technical, and Research Commission (STRC) in Abuja and falls under the GSA 5 job grade. The successful candidate will report directly to the Finance Officer within the ESTI_STRC Division.

Responsibilities
As part of the AU team, the successful applicant will:
Support programme implementation, budgeting, and financial reporting.
Manage accounts payable and receivable in compliance with international accounting standards.
Prepare bank reconciliations, financial reports, and donor funding reports.
Ensure transparency, accountability, and compliance with AU financial policies.
Supervise accounting staff and ensure smooth departmental coordination.
Assist with audit responses and policy development.
Contribute to mobilizing resources and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
Qualifications and Experience
To be eligible for this position, applicants must have:
A Diploma in Financial Management, Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field plus 3 years’ relevant experience, OR
A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field plus 2 years’ relevant experience.
Skills and Competencies
The AU is looking for a results-driven professional with:
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of international and regional policy processes.
Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
Proficiency in at least one AU working language (Arabic, English, French, Kiswahili, Portuguese, Spanish). Fluency in more than one is an advantage.
